Applications for January 2022 and April 2022 now open.
Welcome to the Village Primary Academy Nursery – the home of the cygnets and the swans
We have a large nursery set within the Early Years setting of school. For the school year 2021/22 we can take up to 37 children for the morning sessions and 48 children for the afternoon sessions.
Morning Sessions: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 08:30 - 11:30 am (15 hours per week)
Afternoon Sessions: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 12:30pm - 3:30pm (15 hours per week)
Sessions are offered dependant on the age of the child.
Your child is eligible for 15 hours of free nursery provision.
We can also offer 30 hours free nursery provision for eligible 3 and 4 year olds. To find out if you are eligible please visit:
If you believe you qualify for the 30 hours funding you must apply as soon as possible. The hours must be applied for before the cut-off date provided by Derby City Council. Details of which can be found on the following link:
If you qualify for the 30 hours funding, parents/guardians must re-apply every three months. If you do not reapply or your circumstances change then it may mean that you are no longer entitled to these additional hours (but your child will continue to be eligible for the universal 15 hours)
Children who qualify for 30 hours funding, and are therefore in school all day, can purchase a hot school meal for just £1.00 per day, or provide a healthy packed lunch.
Each day we will provide your child with a snack for which we ask for a voluntary contribution of £10 per term.
Children are eligible to start Nursery from the term after they turn 3. Children’s names can be placed on the waiting list at any time by enquiring at the school office where you will be asked to complete an admission form.
Please note that if you have a child in the nursery it does not mean that older siblings will be offered a place in the school.
Please also note that a place in the nursery does not guarantee a place in the main school. An application will need to be made to join the main school.
We only offer term time provision and are closed during school holidays.
We have been open since the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic, for the children of key workers and others, providing a safe place for children in our provision. We have put lots of safety measures in place to ensure that the children are kept safe and well, for example enhanced cleaning of surfaces and equipment, frequent hand washing and sanitising, keep safe stations (tissues, wipes, sanitiser, aprons, bin etc), we have social distancing markers around the school, staggered lunch times and lots of outdoor play in the fresh air.
Please take a look at the photographs below where you will see some examples to illustrate the type of learning and playing your child will be doing each day, for example the construction area and blocks, creative area, home corner, mark making area, maths area, reading corner and sand play.
