Snack Time

Your child is offered a healthy snack and water or milk during their morning or afternoon session.

Reading - Believe Avhieve Suceed

Reading is so important and we want to help you, to help your children develop a life-long love of books.

Try and support your child and share a book at bedtime or during a quiet moment.

The following tips should help make reading less stressful, and help your child feel like they are a successful reader...

  1. Before you share a new book, find a comfortable place to sit and realx together in.
  2. Talk about the front cover.
  3. Model with your child how to turn the pages, hold the book the correct way up and treat it carefully.
  4. Read the story and talk about the pictures and what is happening.
  5. Allow your child time to share their favourite picture or flick through the pages themselves.
  6. Re-read book lots of times to build your child's confidence. Don't change them everyday!

We will continue to send out a weekly 'Talk Time' letter which includes a weekly breakdown of the learning your child will be involved in and also comes with a weekly nursery rhyme for you and your child to sing together

Thank you so much for your support with your child’s learning 😊

Behaviour

At Village we have a simple set of values that ensures clarity for all. Everyone in the school community is expected to respect and follow these values. The children are reminded of the values frequently.

Dojo

Across all classes and year groups, we use ClassDojo to share the most up-to-date information including photos and videos of our learning, and resources for you to support at home. You can also direct message your child's class teacher to help maintain strong home-school links.

ClassDojo

Dojo points are earned towards a whole-class reward ensuring that every child's contribution is recognised as helping a common goal.

Our Learning

Our topics throughout this year include;

Autumn 1 - Me and My community

This project supports children with settling into the new rules and routines of school and encourages them to make new friends and feel confident in their new class. It teaches children about being helpful, kind and thoughtful, at home and at school. This project also teaches children about how they are unique and special, the importance of friendship and how people in their family, school and local community are important and can help them.

Autumn 2 - Starry Night

This project explores the differences in the world at night compared to during the day. It teaches the importance of a good night's sleep and helps them to discover what is happening at night in the world while they are asleep, including finding out about nocturnal animals.

Spring 1 - Tumble

This project focuses on children's agility, balance, coordination and body confidence through the theme of gymnastics.

Spring 2 - Signs of Spring

This project teaches children about the changes that happen during the spring, including the weather, and the festivals that are celebrated at this time of year.

Summer 1 - Once Upon a Time

This projects supports children to develop a love of stories and reading. It encourages children to learn, retell and act out familiar and traditional tales such as Cinderella, Goldilocks, The Three Little Pigs etc

Summer 2 - Creep. Ctawl and Wriggle.

This mini project teaches children about invertabrates that live in our garden and local environments.
